Dress Like Wong Tak-Chung: The Shadow’s Edge (2026) Jackie Chan Costume Guide

Shadow’s Edge is an action thriller that will air in 2025 and be directed by Larry Yang. It is based on the story of a retired tracking and surveillance specialist named Wong Tak-Chung (Jackie Chan), who has been called back into service. He is to form a superior unit and hunt for a powerful cyber-criminal known as “The Shadow” (Fu Longsheng, Tony Leung Ka Fai). The movie is set in the city of Macau and offers an engaging cat and mouse chase, with traditional law enforcement techniques pitted against the latest in hacking and crypto-heist high-tech methods. The gritty, functional look of the film is a great study of Wong Tak-Chung’s wardrobe in utilitarian character design.

Wong Tak-Chung’s style is just right for his veteran status and tactical expertise. His clothes, especially his leather jackets and trench coats, are designed to be tough and mobile in rough pursuits on the street. The ability to put together this costume—either from actual fabrics or through the digital design process to be used on a 22-28 year old professional model—is very dependent on the ability to focus on structure. Flap pockets, reinforced shoulder seams and a fit that showcases a solid silhouette front, back and full-body are key design aspects. This is also a different style from the more sleek and modern characters of Fu’s younger heist crew.

The use of texture and layer is a key element of recreating these film looks. When Wong wears a well-worn, weathered looking jacket, it immediately tells the reader that this is a hard-boiled old boy. Focus is placed on how clothing falls and reacts to movements in physical stunts for a realistic portrayal of the character on screen.
